Once upon an autumn

Our house 2003 -2018

I love this photo

of our old house,

of a precious view

no longer seen.

In my mind

I can still feel the leaves

that lay softly beneath my feet

I can remember

laughter,

conkers,

the snap of branches,

the scent of damp earth,

the chill in the afternoon air

when the heavy sun

starts to droop.

Leaving behind

a golden autumn glow.

Resplendent for a season

and yet

I know

that

everything comes

to an end

whether we expect it

or not.
